Mother's Day: A Story of Fashion, Confidence, and Legacy

Today is Mother's Day.

And of course, I'm thinking of my mother. When I think of her, I think of her style, her energy, and her unique way of daring. She didn't just wear clothes. She wore an attitude, a confidence, a presence.

Maison Aphrodite starts there. From Valérie, my mother, and everything she passed on to me without even realizing it: a love of women's fashion, the desire to be herself, and the importance of feeling beautiful, strong, and confident.

A woman who didn't follow fashion. She created it.

To explain "the character" to you, if I close my eyes, this is what I see. It's 2012. She's coming home from work. Yes, she works in a dental clinic, but that doesn't stop her. Every day for her was a new opportunity to express her passion for clothes. She looked like she'd stepped out of a photoshoot every day. It wasn't complicated. Imagine the last outfit you'd want to wear if today were your last day – that's what she wore 365 days a year. Platform heels, perfectly colored jeans, and the latest sweater in the store. She'd arrive in a white Jeep, enter the house with an inexplicable confidence. My mom wasn't "fashionable." She WAS fashion.

Style is more than clothes

Extravagant. Self-assured. Never embarrassed. Always with a little something extra.

A detail, a pair of glasses, an outfit no one else would have dared to wear, but which, on her, became just perfect. Clothes give confidence, yes. But with her, it was deeper than that. It was a way of being.

I was born into that. Wardrobes for all seasons: winter, spring, summer, fall. Always up-to-date. Always too beautiful. I grew up with Madonna, with her heels on my feet when I wore a size 3 for children, with her sunglasses bought at optician Gravel. These weren't just clothes, but an identity.

Dare to treat yourself, dare to choose yourself

My mother manages her finances like a pro, but she always told me:

"We work to treat ourselves."

And she's right. Otherwise, what's life for? But beyond that, she passed on something much greater to me: the desire to dare. To dare to be seen, to dare to be different, and to dare to wear what makes us feel fully ourselves. And that's exactly what I want to convey with Maison Aphrodite: women's fashion that gives confidence, that allows every woman to express herself, to be herself, and to take her place, no matter her style or her reality.

I am proud of my mom. Valérie... there's no one else like her, and even today, she makes me see life through rose-tinted glasses.

Maison Aphrodite, that's a bit like her

Ultimately, Maison Aphrodite, that's it, that's her. It's that energy, that boldness, and that desire to feel beautiful, strong, self-assured, and confident in what we wear. To all mothers, those who dare, those who doubt, those who give everything: you are incredible. No matter your style, no matter your reality, you are beautiful, strong, and you deserve to feel confident.

Today, take your place and be proud of the woman you are.

You are amazing.
